Hauppauge Capture supports the following products:

Microsoft Windows XP MCE IR Sensor & Remote Maxtor 120gb (system) & 300gb ATA 133mb BenQ 16/40x DVD/CD Burner DF/DL & Matshita CR-594 CD-Rom 'Rob' wrote in message news:email protected HiI still haven't received my DVDs. I do have the SB Live drivers (they're actually two exe files - The main and a patch from. Box from Time Warner. My IR Blaster is a USB-UIRT. Vista finds the driver just fine and installs it. I have Snapstream Beyond TV running okay. I use the remote from Time Warner to change channels, or I click in the Beyond TV window. When I try to run Media Center setup, it tells me 'IR Hardware not detected' and tells to cancel.

Features I missed in mceremotemapper are the option to save my settings and reuse it later if I ever need to reinstall the OS. Since I could not find a source code to the original mapper tool, I coded this 'Advanced MCE Remote Mapper' from scratch. The interface follows the same intuitive design style as that of mceremotemapper. Using the MCE Replacement Driver with Hip. Install the replacement MCE Remote driver as explained above. Then download and install either the Complete Installation (selecting the MCE IR Plugin from the Components page) or the Standard Installation and the Hip MCE Send and Receive Plugin.

WinTV v7 installation and use, with IR Blaster installation instructions

What Operating Systems are supported by Colossus?

Microsoft Windows 8,7 (32 or 64-bit), Windows Vista or Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or later.

Do I need a PC to use Colossus?

Yes, a PC is required to use Colossus. Colossus is an internal full height PCI Express board which will work in x1 slots. The PC is used to both run the Colossus application plus is the place where Colossus recordings are stored.

Can I record video from a composite video source?

Yes.

Vista mce ir blaster drivers for macbook pro

Though the Colossus does not have a dedicated composite video connector, just connect your composite video cable to the blue cable on the Colossus A/V cable set. Recordings will be done from the composite video source.

Can I use Colossus with a Mac?

There is currently no support for Colossus on a Mac.

System Requirements

When you playback an Colossus recording on your PC screen, you need a fast CPU and at least 256MB of graphics memory.

Processor Requirements (minimum):

Dual core CPU 2.0Ghz or faster

Graphics with 256MB memory (or greater)

Sound card

PCI Express x1 slot

Can I use the Colossus with Microsoft's Windows Media Center application?

Can I use the Colossus with Linux?

At this time, there is no Linux support for Colossus.

Can I record high definition TV from a Cable TV or Satellite box?

Yes. By connecting the Component video output from your high definition cable TV or satellite TV set top box to the component video inputs of the Colossus, you will be able to record the TV programs coming from your set top box to the hard disk. Component video connections are normally the Red/Green/Blue connectors on the back of a set top box. Sometimes they are also called YPrPb or YCrCb connectors.

What type of recordings can I make with the Colossus?

Colossus encodes in real time directly to the hard disk in an H.264 format with AC-3 audio.

There are three formats which you can choose when recording a video:

.TS which is a generic 'transport stream' compatible with many digital media players

.M2TS which is compatible with the Sony Playstation3

.MP4 which is compatible with the XBox360

All recording file types can be used to burn AVCHD Blu-ray compatible disk recordings.

The Colossus files can also be burned onto a standard DVD+R or DVD+RW disk for playback in a Blu-ray disk player using the included Arcsoft application.

Note: Some older models of Blu-ray DVD players cannot play AVCHD files on either DVD-R or DVD+R discs. Check your owner's manual to see if your Blu-ray player is compatible. If it is not, check with the manufacturer to see if a firmware update is available

What type of audio encoding is made with the Colossus?

There are three ways of bringing audio into Colossus: through the stereo audio jacks on the A/V adapter cable, through the HDMI connector or through the optical audio connector on the back panel.

When bringing audio in through the stereo jacks, audio is digitized and then recorded as AC-3.

When bringing audio in through the HDMI connector or the SPDIF optical audio jack, the audio is recorded in the format which is received. If the source provides AC-3 audio, the audio track is AC-3. If the source provides AAC audio, AAC audio is recorded. There is no conversion of the audio format.

DTS audio is currently not supported.

AC-3 5.1 channel audio is preserved if you are creating an AVCHD DVD. If you are creating a standard DVD the audio will be transcoded to AC-3 2 channel. Creating MP4 files will also result in 2 channel audio.

Can I output files I’ve recorded with my Colossus or other content from my PC back to an external TV monitor through the component video outputs on the Colossus?

No, the Colossus does not have the ability to play back recorded videos to an external monitor. The component video outputs act as a pass through for live video streaming from your video source through the Colossus back to your TV monitor. Your PC must be turned on and Colossus must be running in order to pass the video through to the external TV.

How can I use my remote control with the Colossus?

The included remote control is used with the WinTV v7 application. It is not used with the ShowBiz software for Colossus.

Can my PC go into hibernate or sleep mode when using Colossus?

When opening the Arcsoft capture module I only see a Channel button?

If you have a TV tuner card installed the ArcSoft Capture Module may attach to this or any other capture device installed. If you see a Channel button on the Capture Module window go to the Source drop down menu at the top and select the Hauppauge Colossus Capture Device.

Video in preview windows has incorrect colors?

Most of the time this is caused by the display adapter, make sure your video card meets the minimum requirements.
Also try updating to the latest drivers supplied by the manufacturer.

Video is jerky or broken up while capturing?

Most of the time this is caused by the display adapter, make sure your video card meets the minimum requirements.
Also try updating to the latest drivers supplied by the manufacturer.

I get a black screen in the capture window when using the component input?

Some set top boxes will disable or turn off the component output if the HDMI or DVI output is being used. Check to see how you have your Television connected to your set top box.

Audio pass through does not work

In order for the audio pass through to operate correctly you need to configure the settings in the ShowBiz application. To do this follow the installation guide to install the Colossus drivers and the ArcSoft ShowBiz software. When finished power on the Colossus and open the ShowBiz software and click on the “record video” Icon, this will open the Capture module. Choose the audio input from the drop down menu ( RCA, SPDIF), once configured the Colossus will retain these settings. Note: the Colossus must be powered on for the pass through to operate.

Does the captured transport stream contain closed caption data?

No, currently none of the VBI is captured in the stream. This feature will be added some time in the future.

What resolutions and bit rates are supported using Colossus?

Record high definition video at up to 1080i resolution, 720p or VGA/D1

Record at datarates from 1Mbs to 20Mbs, constant and Variable Bit Rate

Make Blu-ray format AVCHD recordings, so you can burn your TV recordings onto a standard DVD disk (up to 2 hours of video at 5MBits/sec) and playback on Blu-ray DVD players

What file formats are created by recording with the Colossus?

The default formats you can record in are: .TS (transport stream for AVCHD), .M2TS (for PS3), and .MP4 (for XBOX 360).

How much disk space will it take up when recording?

Approximately 2 GB per hour at 5Mb/s setting. Approximately 4GB per hour at 9Mb/s setting, and 6 GB per hour at 13.5 Mb/s setting.

Where can I record the files to using the Colossus and can I use it independently?

The Colossus requires a PC (see minimum system requirements under product specifications) to operate. You may then record to any of the hard disk drives installed or connected to the PC, including external drives.

Can I burn a Blu-ray disk with my Colossus?

No, you cannot burn a Blu-ray disk. However, you can burn a standard DVD that will be Blu-ray compatible (when making AVCHD recordings), and play on a Blu-ray DVD player.

I get a black screen in the Showbiz capture module and no output to my TV when I connect my Xbox 360, PS3 to the Colossus.

Make sure you’re gaming system is not set to 1080p. The Colossus does not understand this format. Please set the output resolution to 1080i or 720p. Please see the appropriate setup instructions for your game console:

If I record my game play can I uploaded it to the internet?

Yes. In the Arcsoft Showbiz application, once you have your completed video file (from the edit section) ready for upload, simply go to the ‘Produce’ section and choose “Upload to Youtube”. The software will automatically create the .MP4 file compatible for Youtube content and prompt you a screen to access your Youtube account, ready for upload.

Can I see a video clip recorded from Colossus?

If you have an H.264 decoder on your PC or Mac, here is a little video clip (15 seconds) which shows a recording made from a cable TV box through the component video connections. It was recorded using the Arcsoft ShowBiz application at 8Mbit/sec.

Can I push video encoded with Colossus or HD PVR through VLC?

If you are a developer, you can bring H.264 encoded video in from either Colossus or HD PVR into VLC so it can be streamed out from your PC. Microsoft provides a sample network transmit/receive filter set in their DirectX SDK.
Here is the way this works:
The HDPVR encoder filter produces transport packets. If you (the developer) create a small 'network push' filter that can receive the transport packets in the directshow graph, then forward them to a udp network address and port (for example udp://192.168.1.1:1234), then VLC is capable of receiving and rendering them.
Start VLC from the command line with: vlc udp://192.168.1.1:1234

No audio is detected when editing Colossus recordings in Sony Vegas

Sony Vegas does not detect non-AC-3 audio in .TS or .M2TS files. When recording videos in the Arcsoft Capture module, make sure AC-3 is selected under Format settings. If using Colossus with Sony Vegas, you must use either optical audio (Dolby Digital AC3 audio format) or you must record in MP4 format with AC-3 audio.

If you are using an Xbox360 and want to record TS files, you must use either HDMI or optical audio. You can set your Xbox to output Dolby Digital in System settings / Audio settings

If you are using a PS3 and want to record TS files for use in Vegas, you must use Component Video and optical audio. To set your PS3 to optical audio out, in your PS3 go to Settings / Sound settings / Audio output settings. Select Optical digital and Dolby Digital 5.1 Then use an optical audio cable for recording.

What else will I need to get TV on my PC with Windows Media Center?

Your PC will need a software MPEG-2 decoder in order to watch TV or play DVD movies in Media Center. All new Media Center computers come with the correct MPEG decoder pre-installed. But if you are building a new PC, Microsoft requires an approved DVD decoder to be installed on any MCE system with a TV tuner in order to view TV.

A Microsoft approved graphics card with the latest graphics drivers is also required.

If you will use a Cable Box or Satellite box with the Composite or Svideo inputs, you will need a Media Center remote control kit, otherwise it will not let you proceed.

How do I configure Windows Media Center in Canada?

Windows Media Center does not support digital TV service in Canada so you would need to choose United sates as the region and select a US zip code close to your area to setup ATSC.

What other software can be used with the WinTV MCE models on MCE?

You may use Sage TV, Beyond TV or any of the other excellent third party TV tuner applications with a WinTV Media Center product. These programs allow you to have similar Media Center functions.

If you simply want to watch TV, the Hauppauge WinTV v8 application can be used. This software is available on our web site in the Support Applications section.

How do I configure my TV tuner in Media Center?

From the main menu in the Media Center application, go to Settings. Then choose 'TV', and 'Set Up Your TV Signal'. Choose yes to continue, and then choose Next to proceed. MCE should indicate your correct region/country. Select yes if it is correct, and next to continue. Choose no to select a different region and next to continue to choose your region from the list.

It is recommended to configure your signal automatically. Choose this and select next. MCE will then scan for your connected input and should indicate if you have a cable TV line, antenna, or set top box connected to your WinTV card. If you do not see 'Analog TV tuner' listed, see the next FAQ item for more information.

Choose Yes if the results found are correct, and you wish to use these results for your TV signal.

You may now either set up your local TV guide listings in MCE or return to your TV settings. TV Signal setup is complete. Click Finish.

Note: You must set up an analog tuner in Media Center before you can proceed to set up a digital tuner.

When I set up my TV tuners in Media Center, I do not see 'Analog TV tuner' listed?

If you running TV Setup in Windows Media Center and do not see 'Analog TV tuner' listed in the TV Tuner Setup result page, then most often the SoftMCE was not installed properly. To reinstall SoftMCE, run SoftMCE.EXE from your WinTV Installation CD-ROM , where it can be found in the MCE_soft_encoder directory.

How do I configure my USB-based Media Center IR Blaster remote control?

Connect the IR receive/blaster 'beanbag' to an open USB port on your PC. The drivers should automatically load. Check your device manager for a 'Human Interface Devices' listing, which should contain: HID-Compliant consumer control device, HID-Compliant device (3 instances), and Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver. If the device does not get detected or fails to install, try a different USB port(s) on the PC or refer directly to Microsoft. Also try installing Microsoft's 'Rollup Update 2'

How can I record video from my VCR or camcorder?

No. Media Center does not offer you the ability to capture from the external inputs using a VCR or a camcorder unless you trick it by telling it that you are attaching a satellite receiver or a cable box to the external input at which point the tuner is then disabled. After capturing from your VCR you would then need to set up the tuner again in Media Center in order to use it.

A different PVR program such as BeyondTV or SageTV does not have this limitation. You can also use WinTV v7 or WinTV v8.

After you have installed the WinTV application, you can watch or record from either the TV tuner or the composite and S-Video inputs.

There is no Radio option appearing in Media Center?

Vista Mce Ir Blaster Drivers For Mac Os

This is apparently an issue within Media Center, which you should be able to solve by going to start/set program access and defaults. Choose custom, and go to the ‘default media player’ section.

In here it will have Media center radio listed. If it is not checked for “enable access to this program”, put a checkmark here, and click OK. Start Media Center and see if radio has been added.

If “enable access to this program” was already checked, uncheck it, click OK, and go into Media Center. Then close Media Center, go back to these settings, and check it, click OK, and return to Media Center again, and you should now have the radio option.

How many tuners are supported by Windows Media Center?

Two tuners total can be installed and configured for use in Media Center. If you are using a set top box, then you would need two set top boxes connected to two separate WinTV cards (or the dual tuner PVR 500MCE with the A/V connector) to configure them in MCE.

Vista Mce Ir Blaster Drivers For Macbook Pro

'Access Denied' error when attempting to install the drivers?

Run the HCWCLEAR utility and choose the 'removal all WinTV files and registry entries' as well as the 'search INF files' option. Click ok and wait for the screen to disappear. Next go to start/search/for files and folders. Choose all files and folders. For the file name enter: *.INF for a word or phrase in the file enter: Hauppauge Be sure the look in directory is your C: drive and in the advanced options that Search System Folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search Sub Folders are all selected. Delete any of the .INF files (with Hauppauge text) that are found, and reboot the PC. The drivers should now install correctly.

'Decoder error - Decoder has malfunctioned or is not installed' error in Media Center

These errors are not related to the TV tuner, but either to the DVD Decoder application installed on the system (be sure you have one of the Microsoft approved DVD decoder programs installed), or a VGA driver issue. Try reinstalling updated VGA drivers for the graphics card in the system.

Can I use the Windows Media Center remote control included in my WinTV MCE Kit without Media Center?

The Microsoft Media Center remote control is designed for Windows Media Center. However, it can be installed and will support most of the functions in the WinTV application by following these steps:

Vista Mce Ir Blaster Drivers For Mac Osx

  1. Download 'Update Rollup 2 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (KB912024)' from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=B39D53F1-0AC9-433B-B488-4CAB82F31DC8&displaylang=en
  2. Run the update but when the installer appears on the screen do nothing, do not continue the install.
  3. Open the file called kb912024.log which should be in the C:Windows directory.
  4. The fourth line of log will give you the path to the update installer. (example: C:a322f65d95b36cee5249db67updateupdate.exe).
  5. Navigate to root of that directory (example: C:a322f65d95b36cee5249db67).
  6. Go into the SP2QFE directory and you will find the irbus.sys file.
  7. Go into the IP directory and you find the irbus.inf file.
  8. Copy these two files to a temp directory.
  9. After copying the files you can then click on cancel on the rollup installer. This will remove the directories listed above so it is important that the files be copied properly.
  10. You can then plug in the MCE receiver and point the wizard to the temp directory to which you copied the two files.
  11. The wizard goes through five or six devices, simply point them all to that same directory,

The remote will not be able to launch the WinTV application, so the WinTV application must be running, and then most of the remote control buttons will now control the WinTV.
